Grading
Grading is the process of expanding or compressing a materials base size. We achieve this by utilizing our computer aided drafting system known as PAD systems. In order to get started first, we must implement you pattern into our computer data base. This is done physically via digitizing or electronically (.dxf file). For instance, you bring us a t-shirt size small and would like us to accommodate sizes: x-small, medium, and large - all of this is made possible by grading manipulation. Following grading, comes marking.
Marking
Marking, or marker making, takes the two-dimensional pieces that encompasses your pattern, found in our databases due to grading, and creating cutting stencils. By measuring or being provided with the width of the fabric roll, we create cutting boundaries. A benefit to this is maximizing your product(s) yield by allocating the maximum amount of units per square inch found available on your material. Also, these boundaries help prevent your patterns from being undercut or damaged by cutters due to rouge fabric plys. Once the markers are made and approved, they are either delivered electronically or plotted: we employ Algotex's 4-head plotter, with up to a maximum width of 70 inches and plotting capabilities of 80-100 yards per hour. Generally, marking is the step prior to the cutting phase of your products life cycle.
Digitizing
Digitizing is the procedure of taking a physical pattern and transferring its outline and storing it into a computer database. This digital copy can then be manipulated through our pad system for either grading or marking. Not all clients may require this service, as some may already have a digital copy. In which case, a .dxf file can be an alternative to this step.
